Job Summary

The SVP of Investor Relations will be directly responsible for professionalizing and growing Birchwood’s investor relations function and network. As the nucleus of all investor relationships, you will play the critical role of overseeing all communications to and from new and existing investors. In this role, you will be primarily focused on expanding Birchwood’s accredited investor base through direct outreach to Family Offices, Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), and Wealth Managers.

The SVP of Investor Relations will report to one of the Partners at Birchwood. As a member of the executive team, the SVP of Investor Relations will work with leadership on all elements of the investor experience

Ideally located in Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Represent investor interests as a voting member of Birchwood’s Investment Committee.
  • Manage fund formations and all capital market activities related to the firm’s investment offerings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for existing and potential investors including lead investor outreach programs
  • Lead and manage a robust and cohesive investor relations program, designed to clearly communicate with the investor community, drive awareness and build the Company’s long-term brand and value – including financial performance, key business levers, competitive benchmarking, and company strategy and outlook
  • Work with senior leadership to define our external investment thesis and ensure alignment of that external messaging with internal operating plans and corporate goals
  • Develop and evolve the communication strategy to align with changes to the business
  • Develop content for investor presentations including Fund documents, Advisory Board meetings and other corporate events
  • Lead Company efforts to engage with, maintain and increase retail investor ownership through webinars, press releases, and other corporate events
  • Ensure the executive team is up-to-date on investor perceptions of the company and implement any necessary course corrections in messaging or relationship management
  • Maintain strong company and sector expertise, staying current on all company and related industry activity, as well as general market trends
  • Identify new channels of outreach to Family Offices, Registered Investment Advisors, and Wealth Managers via direct cold calling efforts and other forms of outreach
  • Works collaboratively to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls, and procedures that improve the overall investor experience of the organization and ensure excellent client service.
  • Attend meetings of the Board and its Committees, and present the information necessary or relevant to the Board
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes adherence to company core values and mission.
  • Professionalize investor reporting to ensure it exceeds investor expectations
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Birchwood’s product offerings – assist in the development of new product offerings
  • Manage outside social media / website consultants
  • Establish strong CRM reporting for investor prospects

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrable success in raising capital for investment products similar to Birchwood’s
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA preferred.
  • Highly articulate, and persuasive verbal and written communication skills.
  • Existing network of investors / prospects is a plus, but not required
  • Existing experience / knowledge of seniors healthcare is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to build and grow relationships with investors, advisors, business leaders, and analysts
  • Comfort with technology, including CRM, Mailchimp (or similar), social media, website, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
  • Proven ability to effectively work with all levels of Management
