Laura has served as a member of the Birchwood Advisory Board since 2021, as is currently the Board Chair.
Laura is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with 30 years of direct patient care experience in primary care and public health. As a member of nursing faculties in the United States, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, she has served as a lecturer, researcher, and administrator and has developed courses in advanced assessment, clinical reasoning, health promotion, and systems leadership for healthcare providers and leaders across the globe. As a social scientist and board-certified advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) she has been recognized internationally as an invited speaker at healthcare and quality improvement conferences. Laura currently serves as a Chief Administrative Officer at Calamos Family Partners, supporting cross-functional collaboration on strategic initiatives by applying her expertise in client-centered service delivery, organizational behavior, and multidisciplinary team management. Laura continues to serve on corporate, non-profit, academic, and advisory boards in the UK and US.
Dr. Calamos earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Hampshire College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Academic Practice (PGCAP) and PhD in Health Studies Research at King’s College London (UK), where she examined contextual factors of integration across the healthcare system.
